Whilst still at school Mark used to enjoy playing golf with his brother Lawrie.They would spend most of their school summer holidays out on the Surfleet golf course in Spalding.

Mark joined the exclusive ‘hole in one club’ one day on the 5th hole but had to admit he didn’t hit the ball very well and like most ‘hole in ones’ it was somewhat of a fluke. It bobbled most of the 170 yards onto the green, avoiding several bunkers on the way, then rolled inexorably straight into the hole ! Never done it again since.
