Rubettes Choir

This past weekend the 26th and 27th August the Rubettes feat. A.W.  have been performing at the ‘Nuits des Choeurs’ ( Night of the Choirs) Acapela festival in Ophain, Belgium.

Choirs and Vocal ensembles from all over the world were there performing Acapela as did Alan, John, Mick and Mark although they occasionally used an acoustic guitar on one or two of the Rubettes Hit’s. This was a new departure for the guys and something they hope to do more of if all goes well. For all those who saw them I think were pleasantly surprised, first to witness such a unique event, them without the customary electric guitars, drums and keyboards and more so to hear unplugged and acapela versions of many Rubettes hit’s with Sugar Baby love a joy.  It was clear by their performance that the guys had put an immense amount of effort into the show and it was also clear by the reaction of the audience that it had been well worth it. Over the weekend they would have been watched by 10,000 people who love the informal atmosphere of the many stages set in beautiful grounds of the Chateau Domaine de Bois-Seigneur-Issac and even the fact that it rained on the first night didn’t begin to dampen their enthusiasm. John said it was the hardest gig he had ever done but the most satisfying. Alan and Mark agreed. Mick said laughingly never again but then Mick never did like hard work. All in all they were very pleased with themselves and rightly so.

The Rubettes feat.A.W. have larger audience as yesterday,

If vocal bands had many succes in front of public, and also during the final, others bands continue to use the benefit of historic sympatic capital. Many people admitted that they are coming to see the “mythic” english band The Rubettes, and enjoyed to listen al the hits from their young time in the seventies . It is the band of “Sugar Baby Love” . A capella, it’s different, but hits stay hits… And the 4 guys from the band used on stage a very british humour that people like it…

But the band give also more when the show is closed: with Rubettes feat. A.W, the friendly communication with fans continue after the show… Nobody do it during a vocal Festival, but Rubettes do it ! All fans present at the gig have possibility to sign autographes just near the stage. Rubettes feat. A.W. are full avaible for fans. Some fans do pictures near the vedettes who smash some hits around the world.

Alain Degoudt was one of those fans who meet the Rubettes featuring Alan Williams and who buy a Rubettes’ book, a big color picture with signatures and in his digital camera a beautiful picture near the leader of the band, his favourite singer . “I know all their songs, and i follow him since the begin of rubettes. They are really friendly. I go to many gigs of their. I like also ZZtop, Johnny Hallyday and AC/DC…

Alain was coming specially in ophain to see the show of Rubettes featuring Alan Williams. This band who is very avaible for the fans.

Big disapointment with this edition 2010 “Nuit des choeurs”. Earth wind & fire, from eighties is absolutely not good on stage…

Exception for Voca People (Israel) and for The Rubettes featuring Alan Williams who give many enthousiasm and ambiance at this edition.

Finally this edition was absolutely different as last year, and not so good…
